Most coffee sacks are made of sisal, burlap, or a combinations of burlap and synthetic fibres (that last being what Brazil producers are starting to move towards).
- The sisal sacks are quite coarse and have a relatively loose weave. However, while they tend to have and easily generate holes in the weave, the material itself is very hard wearing.
- The loose weave burlap sacks are a light softer, but probably more suitable for cushions, aprons and the like.
- The heavy weave burlap sacks are soft and heavy, so suitable for most, if not all, potential uses.
- The burlap sacks with synthetic fibre are very similar to the loose weave sacks, but have a sheen to them, and do tend to retain their original condition better.
All of the coffee sacks are used. They've been lifted, hauled, dragged and stored around the world. While we do not sell particularly badly treated sacks, please do not expect them to be in perfect condition.
