It is believed that José Gumilla, a Jesuit priest, introduced coffee into Venezuela. Coffee became a major plantation crop in the 1800s and exports surged with the free trade agreements Venezuela had with North Atlantic nations. Lavado Fino is the country's higest grade of coffee and is characterised as having bright flavours with a clean, crisp finish. It is light weight and simple, but less acidic than other Latin American coffees. |
