I've done my first 2 roasts and am really, really pleased with my purchase.

The Gene Cafe is a quality product, simple, easy to use and the results "out-of-the-box" are very good.  I honestly expected to make a few dud batches, but no - it is child's play.

My first roast was too light for Yirga Cheffe ("Medium" - straight out of the booklet - too acidic and the fruity flavour which I like was too light but detectable).  My second roast was a "High" roast - this was very good.  I'm sure I will be able to improve on it but I was amazed to get such a good roast "out-of-the-box" ... let the serious roasting begin.

I also expected (having read through some forums) to have smoke billowing throughout the house but the Gene Cafe was easy to operate under the cook-top extractor fan without setting off the fire alarm (less smoke than burning toast for sure).  This is not a novelty product.

Fantastic service and great products - would recommend all coffee connoisseaurs / addicts try home roasting and buying green beans.  Very happy.
